What started out as an exercise in painting “big" evolved into a collection of still life paintings that evoke vaguely anthropomorphic qualities. I am surprised and excited about how the (seemingly simple) observation of an object paired with the craft of painting can bring about new meaning. These paintings mirror the experience of being human in that they underwent many iterations to become what you see here. Likewise, they could continue to change forever. |

2) What creative or professional goals inspired you to enroll in the Advanced Studio Program this year? I wanted to see what would happen if I devoted a lot of time to painting and art making. I also had a vague notion about developing a series of works to exhibit. |

4) Aside from those that are COVID-related, did you experience any setbacks or difficulties completing the body of work on exhibition? I experience difficulties every time I face a project! That part doesn't change for me. |
5) Which piece or pieces are you most proud of and why? I was challenged to paint big over and over again. It has definitely informed my painting. |
